My Duke Product Lab Experience
I joined the Product Management II course as a natural progression from the Product Management I course and sought a semester-long client experience, which is exactly what I got. I enjoyed the close mentorship with Program Director Anna Wilson and the Christensen Center Student Fellows as I worked through my project. The whole setup with a PM partner, a thoughtful client, and three builders was super interesting and presented a challenge that mimics situations I’d be placed in during a real job. I thought the Christensen Center did a fantastic job selecting clients with interesting ideas and a passion to see students learn and succeed. The product-market fit interview templates and the “sprint timeline” supported my project as I built an MVP that Anna Wilson encouraged me to submit to the Duke Pratt School of Engineering Student Showcase.
After Duke Product Lab
Product Management II was a big contributor to me landing a job in tech consulting at Deloitte. The interviewers liked the product I built using AI; the stories of working through technical and relationship challenges with engineers were something I constantly highlighted during the recruiting process. I’m very glad my project became a sign of early success for the Christensen Center’s Product Lab! I’d love to continue staying involved as an alumnus through experience sharing and beyond.
